Paul Van Dyk – Politics of Dancing 3: POD3

Paul Van Dyk – Politics of Dancing 3: POD3

After 10 long years, Grammy nominated artist, globally acclaimed DJ and audio architect Paul van Dyk has finally unveiled the highly-anticipated edition in his critically acclaimed series – The Politics of Dancing 3. His long-awaited seventh artist album has taken formation over the last three years and I promise you, he has not let us down! Releases like POD3 show audiophiles, like me, that EDM has truly progressed into something greater than just layers of tracks on a computer monitor.

The album is truly flawless, as van Dyk is a master of trance, as well as a pioneer of artist collaboration. With over 20 singers and producers, such as Aly & Fila, Stoneface & Terminal, Roger Shah and many more, ‘The Politics of Dancing 3’ is a true reminder of the power of trance music and its ability to unite producers and artists for a truly blissful compilation. With 14 songs in total, Paul van Dyk or PvD has shown us that he can produce an angelic and diverse album with names that we all know and love. I know when I listen to PvD I can always expect hard bass lines, energetic breakdowns, and some extremely uplifting female vocals and with POD3 I believe he has succeeded again.

Now I was expecting a two-disc album, as many of his other fans were, but I promise those who have not had a chance to listen to POD3 that you will not be disappointed in the few tracks that he decided to include in this release. My interpretation (which could be wrong) of PvD’s concept of ‘Politics’ is rooted in the explosion of electronic dance music in today’s youth and the actual ramifications on society. Now I don’t believe all of these effects have been detrimental, as many EDM fans have become more artistically-inclined and do practice the rave mantra, or PLUR in their daily lives. Either way, Paul van Dyk delivers a fresh approach on dance music and deserves his rightful place among the world’s most talented producers.
