EFLLA | Electric for Life Tour: Los Angeles
It’s a major accomplishment when a woman in her sixth month of pregnancy survives a 6-hour set!
And this is exactly what I did this past Saturday for Gareth Emery’s Electric for Life set in the beautiful city of Los Angeles. I told myself that I would be taking a hiatus from shows for a bit to prepare myself for the arrival of my son, Markus, yet, I can never truly say goodbye to the life I’ve known for nearly a decade. By far, this has to be one of the best nights I’ve ever had since I started raving. In short, Gareth Emery knows how to put on a phenomenal set!
As we walked into the Shrine Auditorium, which is one venue I’ve never been to, we happened to bump into Roxanne Emery. The poor girl was all by herself passing out glowsticks to the more than excited fans, so my boyfriend and I decided to help her out. Luckily, two other girls joined in, but I swear I broke nearly 3,000 by myself! As soon as we finished, we made our way to Gareth. In my opinion, Gaz is a legend in his own right because his sound is so unique. As expected, he dropped some of my favorite classics like ‘On A Good Day.’ He played some tracks from his latest album, Drive, like ‘Dynamite’ with Christina Novelli, while slipping in some IDs here and there, putting that EFL twist that we all know and love on it. Honestly, being pregnant and dancing around to him spinning some old-school Kaskade is in every sense, living in the moment.
But then Emma Hewitt came out and I lost my mind! Not only is she one of my favorite trance vocalists, but she’s probably the most well-known in our scene. It’s insane to think that I’ve had the privilege to meet Roxanne, Christina, and now Emma, but we’ll get to that a little later! As Emma was wrapping up her little set, Gareth actually jumped on the piano and Emma began to sing ‘Waiting.’ Being the fangirl that I usually am, I nearly had tears streaming down my check. One of my all-time favorites was being made into an acoustic classic in front of my very eyes. It was a beautiful moment to witness.
You will never know how much that meant to me. How much this night meant to me…
