EFL050 – Electric for Life 050 – Gareth Emery

Hey everyone! I don’t think you’re going to like this, but EFL050 was a real disappointment for me…

50 is a very big deal. We throw parties for 50th wedding anniversaries, 50th birthdays. You’d figure that on the 50th episode of the show’s history, it wouldn’t have been so dull. Granted we had a set full of big names in our scene, like legends Kaskade, Super 8 & Tab, Andrew Bayer, Cash Cash, Cosmic Gate, and JES, but I was not impressed at all.

I thought I was over reacting, but then my son chimed in and stated that the Lego game on his iPad had better music than what what was selected for today. Ouch! Sorry Gareth, but 5 year olds tell it like it is. I think the most disappointing part of the show was what followed the opening track. ‘I Do Coke’ by Kill The Noise & Feed Me really had me going at first; it is an amazing dance song. The lyrics are amusing, the beat is catchy; you can’t resist its immature, yet daring charm. I thought for sure that we were in for a treat, but the show plummeted so severely that I got annoyed. And kind of angry too.

I hung out until the end, not only to blog about it, but to also see if there’d be some kind of a plot twist. Nope. Oh Gareth, we know you’re busy working on the new album and finishing the EFL Tour, but I don’t know if I can pardon this, especially on the big five-o. Still love ya though!

I hail from Port-au-Prince, Haiti (like Michael Brun) where the EDM scene (blended with spellbinding island drums) is rapidly growing. I fell madly in love with the sounds of ATB in the late 90’s, and have been entranced since the age of 13. I hope to inspire people through my articles to pursue their dreams with the sound of music. -In Trance We Trust-
