EFL053 – Electric for Life 053 – Gareth Emery

EFL053 – Electric for Life 053 – Gareth Emery

A lot of talk about the great EFLDAY from last Saturday, November 28th! The 24-hour event included a very impressive Guest Mix of 35 producers, which included: Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Arty, Cosmic Gate, Dash Berlin, Markus Schulz, Paul van Dyk, and Seven Lions, just to name a few. Additionally, the grand finale was video streamed live from the Stereosonic Festival in Sydney, Australia, and the five lucky ones to perform at that moment were: Andrew Rayel, Emma Hewitt, Gareth Emery himself, Mark Sherry, and MaRLo. All in all, EFLDAY was a tremendous success for Gaz’s career, and from the bottom of our hearts, we congratulate him on his big and epic day!

This week’s EFL053 features new tracks from Ukrainian sensation Omnia, English producer Michael Woods, German-American DJ Markus Schulz, and the Incredible Swedish talent Capa! Words cannot express how much of a fan I am of Capa’s. He won my heart with his flawless remix of ‘Aika,’ which the original is considered by many, a dream collaboration of Anjunabeats Royalty Super8 & Tab and electronic pioneer BT.

Capa entered the scene at the age of 18 on Toolroom Records and has recently released tracks through Anjunabeats, Armada Trice, and ZeroThree. Everyone wants a piece of the 25-year-old prodigy, and it’s all because of his signature “Capa” Progressive sound; the 80’s-like bass lines and notable use of vocal samples in his synth-heavy tracks hit the soul. His latest release ‘Helios’ made a debut on EFL053, and it was all the buzz, just as I expected! I would personally like to congratulate you on your new release, Capa!

Omnia’s new track ‘Shanghai’ was also featured on today’s show, and I’m absolutely in love with his work as well! Ever since his first hit ‘The Fusion,’ co-produced with Ukrainian DJ Ira back in 2012, Omnia was taken under Armin van Buuren’s wing and has been thriving ever since. One of the youngest producers in the scene (age 27), Omnia also hosts a show on Soundcloud, entitled Omnia Music Podcast. Fans love that he regularly hosts track mixing contests on his podcasts, with the goal of finding new talent and pushing them into the spotlight. I’m loving all the P.L.U.R. from our favorite DJs.

Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

The Track of the Week title goes to ‘Pattern 10,’ produced by budding new talent ESSEX. ESSEX is set to take over the trance community with his uplifting sound, and with ‘Pattern 10’ released by Gareth Emery’s Garuda Recordings, ESSEX is guaranteed to receive some much-deserved exposure and attention in the coming year. ‘Pattern 10’ is the embodiment of pounding basslines, solid beats, and lush chords. This week’s Classic goes to Breeder’s It Is Now remix of ‘Not Over Yet 99,’ by Planet Perfecto featuring Grace, always a nice throwback for us “old folks.” And the EFL Anthem, undisputedly goes to ‘Emotional.’ Matthew Koma and Flux Pavilion killed it with this track, and out comes William Black who killed it even more! How is that even possible?

Don’t forget to check out next week’s EFL054 and show some love to all the new talent out there! And as always, thanks for tuning into my weekly review of Electric for Life. Have a great week everyone!

About The Author

Christine Courtois

I hail from Port-au-Prince, Haiti (like Michael Brun) where the EDM scene (blended with spellbinding island drums) is rapidly growing. I fell madly in love with the sounds of ATB in the late 90’s, and have been entranced since the age of 13. I hope to inspire people through my articles to pursue their dreams with the sound of music. -In Trance We Trust-
