Global DJ Broadcast Oct 29 2015 – Afterdark
With Halloween just around the corner, this week’s GDJB goes dark! I have a deep passion for trance, but this podcast was a dark turn of events, as it is far from the norm for Markus. For those that know me personally, I always say Markus is at his best when he is out of his element. His best work comes out when he breaks that invisible barrier and becomes something more. Extremely fitting for All Hallows’ Eve, so strap yourselves in and enjoy!
The first notable track is an extremely deeper and darker twist to trance. Jerome Isma-Ae & Maor Levi’s remix of Underworld’s ‘Dark & Long’ is beautifully crafted and easily transports you to another world. When listening to it again on SoundCloud, this quote fit it perfectly:
It’s darker and heavier than dark. I’m thinking sub-underworld… like dante couldn’t even find this vibe…
Obviously a reference to Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, this perfectly described how lost I became in those flawlessly constructed synths. As we made our way through the broadcast, the next track that stuck with me was Markus’s reconstruction of Andro V’s ‘Lonely World.’ I’ve personally heard Markus drop this numerous times in his sets to pump up the crowd. You might not remember, but this was a definite staple in Markus’s sets back in 2012.
To close out this week’s broadcast, I can’t forget to mention this spectacular remix of ‘Destiny’ by Solid Stone. As I have mentioned time and time again, I’m in love with this track, but I am beyond speechless when it comes to describing how crazy I went over this remix. Unfortunately, it is not available yet, so I could not feature it. But I loved it so much that I wanted to share with all of you, so please scan to about 97 minutes in if you want to hear it!
I enjoyed this week’s GDJB more than you could imagine, as it brought to light a different shade of Markus. It was more of a techy house sound, which I love every once in a while. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. By the way, if you’re in SoCal this weekend, make sure to check him at Escape: Psycho Circus!
