ABGT136: Group Therapy 136 with Jason Ross

“Group Therapy captures the relationship between us, our music and you, our audience, and the magic that happens when those three things interact. It’s something you’ve all taken into your hearts and it lies at the center of everything that we do – the community, the connection, the interaction. Our radio show is our weekly Group Therapy with all of you.” — Above & Beyond

I think everyone needs a bit of Group Therapy and Fridays just got a lot more favorable because of it. This past week has been amazing! This particular Group Therapy is really special to me, not only because one of my favorites from the Anjuna Family is a guest, but also because I was a part of history this past weekend. But I’ll get to that further in. ABGT136 features the lovely Above & Beyond themselves, as well as Super8 & Tab, and Dusky. Let’s begin, shall we?

Seldom do I write articles at 2 in the morning on a Friday night, but nothing I’ve seen this festival season can compete with the badassery I just witnessed front row of the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. Progressive trance powerhouse trio Above & Beyond brought the most epic guest of all time to the Main Stage at EDC Las Vegas to push the button: the one and only Walter White of hit TV series Breaking Bad, played by actor Bryan Cranston. The second I heard him bellowing into the microphone “Say my name!” I already knew what was unfolding. The crowd and I promptly respond, to which he replies, “You’re goddamn right! Walter White, Above & Beyond!” Cranston closes the ceremony by smashing the play button and jumping along with Above & Beyond to cement their 2015 Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas set as one that will go down in history. This moment will always be in my heart, as I will never forget the sheer magic of those events that transpired.

A legend never dies.

As I have said before, Jason Ross is one of my favorite Anjunabeats breakout artists. I was so eager to write about him yet again hence last weeks ASOT. He blew up this year, and fast. Which, in my opinion, is very well deserved. His progressive trance tracks are hitting the top charts, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at EDC next year. Getting recognition as a young producer is a difficult task these days; only the best surface due to their originality and dedication. At the ripe age of just 25, San Diego-based DJ Jason Ross is one of those young talented producers who are on their way to stardom, as he’s accomplished what any young producer dreams of.  With a bright future ahead of him, Jason Ross continues to excel in his production skills and by gaining further notoriety and support from some of the biggest names in the business. ‘Atlas’ will always be a timeless classic to me. His journey has just begun and it’s only going to get better!

Before I close, I just want to take a second and talk about this weeks ‘Record of the Week.’. It goes to Above & Beyond’s ‘Peace Of Mind’ with a twist from Arty. ‘Peace of Mind’ is by far my favorite track and Arty just made it 10x better. The breakdown in the middle is pure genius and Zoë’s vocals can make any track that much better. This song is truly pure-bliss trance.
